The legend

These are Berber pilgrims, back from Mecca in the 10th century, who would have introduced the famous Damascus rose in the region
(you know, those who have very small buttons) .

A discreet flower, with its delicate perfume, which has become over time an emblem of the Kingdom of Morocco.

The flora

Nestled on the foothills of the High Central Atlas, watered by the rivers of M'Goun and Dadès, the valley of the Roses welcomes you on the trails of its lush gardens and its ksars where time stopped.

Here, we mainly cultivate the famous Damascus rose, pillar of the local economy thanks to the production of essential oils and various cosmetic products with multiple virtues for the skin.

Every year, in May, a festival is organized in Kelâat M'Gouna to celebrate the arrival of the Roses of the Dades and M'Goun valley.

In the spring, we also admire the hatching of poppies, almond flowers and fruit trees from the whole region.

Architecture

A valley of roses and miles kasbahs…

Dominating the islets of greenery, fabulous kasbahs stand between valleys and mountains of the Atlas.

With a Berber and pre-Saharan architecture, these master's houses are real architectural masterpieces.

Landscapes

A palette of painter in splendid colors.

The visit of the valley of roses does not fail to reveal elsewhere, sublime panoramas like those of the arid landscapes of ocher rocks and green fields fed by the course of the Dades wadi.

This source of water gives life to vegetation consisting mainly of large carpets of wild roses which offers a real olfactory and visual journey.

The Roses Valley was also labeled "Géoparc Global" by UNESCO in 2014, and can boast of being the only one in Morocco to have this distinction
