The Trek Des Gazelles by Mélanie – Desert Edition, invites you to the borders of Zagora, gateway to the desert and starting point of our adventure to the Sahara.
Our camel trek follows a route steeped in history, once used by sub-Saharan caravans.
You will be captivated by the immensity of the dunes, ergs and desert plateaus.
As night falls, our bivouacs light up, becoming ever more elegant. Around a fire, nature calms down and the Milky Way offers us a magical spectacle.
Six days to discover the desert in a different way. An authentic experience – imagined by Mélanie – where the Tuareg spirit transports you out of time.
THE ITINERARY AND THE PROGRAM
A JOURNEY conceived in the SECRET of the DESERT
Each Desert Edition has its own program and itinerary, carefully designed by Mélanie, Paul and their teams.
The itinerary is revealed to registered participants, step by step, in order to preserve the uniqueness of the experience.
With 100 participants per edition, each departure is designed to guarantee the quality of the organization and experience, and the safety of the event.
The desert is thus revealed as the journey unfolds, in all its beauty and authenticity.
STARTING POINT OF THE ADVENTURE
OUARZAZATE, gateway to the GREAT SOUTH
Ouarzazate, nicknamed the silent city, is the gateway to Morocco's Great South, opening onto the vast arid expanses of the desert. At the confluence of the Drâa and Dadès rivers, the landscapes reveal a veritable kingdom of palm groves.
Once a stop on caravan routes linking Marrakech to the Sahara, Ouarzazate has established itself over the centuries as a crossroads of civilizations. The region owes its prosperity in particular to its refined craftsmanship and its earthen kasbahs, witnesses to the history of the Great South.
Here you'll find master stonemasons and copper artisans, custodians of ancestral know-how. A major film location, Ouarzazate hosts numerous filming locations for huge international productions.
A land of living traditions, the region gives a major place to music and the arts: Songs, rhythms and dances – including the famous Ahwach, Ahaidous and Taskiouines – enliven festivals and make the deep soul of southern Morocco vibrate.
COURSE and TECHNIQUE
The far south and the mountains to reach the desert
- A 6-day trip
- A trek of approximately 70 km
- 3.5 days of walking
- Various terrain: pebbles, rocks, small stumps, earth, sand, etc.
- Altitude: from 700 to 1100 meters
- Average positive elevation gain: + or - 400 meters
- A mountain pass
- Temperatures in December: daytime highs between 5° and 30° Celsius and nighttime highs between 0° and 10° Celsius
- Weather conditions: possibility of temporary sandstorms
- Good physical condition is essential
- Endurance required
- Commitment to regular training

As the journey progresses, the bivouacs imagined by Mélanie become true places of living and sharing.
Each evening, a new territory unfolds, where the camp welcomes participants in a unique atmosphere, in the heart of the Saharan landscapes. Under the traditional tents, shared meals and evenings under the stars create truly special moments.
An experience that combines immersion in the desert, Moroccan authenticity and attention to comfort, down to the smallest details.

MELANIE'S STORY
An ADVENTURE born from a personal STORY
Ladies,
In 2014, Mélanie Salgues created the Trek des Gazelles by Mélanie, an event born from her own story and a deep commitment to an essential cause: the fight against pediatric cancer.
Since the first edition, she has been creating itinerant adventures exclusively for women, where the discovery of an authentic Morocco, where elegance and sisterhood occupy an essential place.
Behind each edition, the same desire: to make travel a meaningful human experience, while continuing the solidarity actions that constitute the DNA of the event.
Since 2015, 10% of registration fees have been dedicated to initiatives supporting children with cancer.
